High School Journalist Day

High School Journalist Day
Presented by Michigan Office Solutions

The Detroit Red Wings invite Michigan high schools each season to send one student reporter to The Joe to get an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look into the world of sports journalism at High School Journalist Day presented by MOS. Students take part in mock press conferences with Red Wings coaches, leadership and professional media members. Participants also receive lunch, a tour of the press box and view a Red Wings practice.

New for 2016, students registered for High School Journalist Day by submitting two essays explaining their career goals in the field of journalism and detailing how a grant could support their high school journalism program. The essays have been critiqued by Red Wings and MOS staff, and the Grand Prize Winner will be awarded a $5,000 grant, courtesy of MOS, during the event to go toward their school’s journalism program. Registration for the 2016 program is now closed.
