Detroit Red Wings Foundation raises more than
$200,000 at 13th Annual Toast of Hockeytown

On-ice check presentation took place on Monday, March 18, 2013

DETROIT - The Detroit Red Wings Foundation successfully raised more than $200,000 at their 13th Annual Toast of Hockeytown event presented by ITC Holdings Corp. on Monday, Mar. 18, at Joe Louis Arena. The Foundation recognized ITC Holdings Corp., PNC Bank and Barton Mallow Hunt for their sponsorship of the event in a pre-game on-ice check presentation ceremony prior to the Wings game against Phoenix on Monday night, Apr. 22.

More than 450 guests attended the signature event, and everyone had an opportunity to mingle with the entire Red Wings roster, bid on exclusive silent and live auction items and to enjoy over 65 fine wines, gourmet foods and delectable desserts. Contributions from the event are used to support the Foundation's mission of investing in the future of our community by providing funds and resources to worthy causes that contribute to the growth of the sport of hockey.

This year, many local restaurants joined Olympia Entertainment to provide guests with a wide variety of world-class cuisines, including seared lamb chops from Iridescence; fresh oysters, shrimp and sushi from Joe Muer Seafood; handmade pastas and wild mushrooms from Andiamo; chocolate-covered strawberries from The Melting Pot of Troy; and decadent desserts from Just Baked.

The evening also featured a silent and live auction full of phenomenal Wings memorabilia and more. Two lucky hockey fans came away with a trip for two to a Wings road game on Red Bird III. Another popular auction package included a private hockey clinic with goaltender Jimmy Howard. New to the event this year, guests also had a chance to bid on custom auction baskets, filled with items hand-selected by members of the Red Wings roster.

For a $50 donation, guests were awarded an autographed puck. The donation entered each contributor into a raffle, where one lucky winner and guest received a night out in Birmingham with Wings forwards Todd Bertuzzi and Darren Helm.

It was an unforgettable night at the Joe Louis Arena for the 13th Annual Toast of Hockeytown, thanks to the hundreds of fans who came together with the Detroit Red Wings in support of the Foundation's mission: growing the great sport of hockey.
